CUSTOM DESIGN ORDER TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Thank you for your interest in custom jewelry — I'm excited to work with you to bring your vision to life.
To start the process for your custom design, please complete my design request form. I will then be in touch to go through how the custom design process works.
Below you'll find all the nitty gritty information about working together on a custom piece. Custom design orders are subject to the following Custom Design Order Terms and Conditions (“Terms and Conditions”).
Sara Pocius Jewelry will not create any design that violates another designer’s copyright. I reserve the right to display custom designs on my website and for any appropriate marketing purposes as determined in my sole discretion. Sara Pocius Jewelry owns all intellectual property for custom order designs.
After we’ve had a chance to discuss your project details, inspiration/reference and budget, a non-refundable Design Fee of $250 will be collected. This Design Fee will be credited toward your final invoice. Once the Design Fee has been received, we will begin working together via phone and email with photos, sketches and/or Computer Aided Design (CAD) models.
Upon your approval of the final design concept, a 50% non-refundable deposit of the estimated commission price, plus any applicable CA sales tax, is required before gemstones are sourced and production begins. Please be aware that significant design or material changes made after the deposit is paid may affect your final invoice. Staying on budget is always my goal, so I will alert you immediately if I foresee any changes beyond +/- 10% of the original estimate.
Your deposit will be applied toward your final payment amount for your custom design and may not be applied toward any other purchase from Sara Pocius Jewelry. Custom design orders are not eligible for any promotions or discounts, unless specifically stated in the promotion details.
Unless we've made specific arrangements for a later delivery, deposits will be forfeited if a custom design order is not completed within three (3) months of Sara Pocius Jewelry receiving the deposit.
Upon receipt of the non-refundable deposit, we will make final adjustments to your design and purchase any gemstones required (see below for terms regarding customer supplied stones). You will receive a rendering of your Computer Aided Design (CAD) for review. CAD models offer a preview to the final end product. Upon your approval, I will create a 3D wax model of your design representing what your final piece will look like. The 3D wax model can be shipped to you for your review and approval if desired.
Once you have reviewed the CAD model and/or wax model and confirmed your design approval, the master jewelers I work with locally in the L.A. Jewelry District will then commence production and craft your one-of-a-kind design.
If your design utilizes non-computerized production methods (hand-carved waxes, hand engraving, etc.) you will be sent photographs throughout the approval process. Due to their fragile and one-of-a-kind nature, I do not recommend sending hand-carved waxes via mail for approvals.
Upon completion of your piece, you will be sent photograph(s) along with a request for the balance of the final payment due (minus your Design Fee and 50% deposit). Your jewelry will be shipped upon payment of final invoice.
Please note that you will be responsible for shipping and any duty/sales tax required for your purchase.
Customer Supplied Stones
While I take the utmost care when handling your unique items, the setting process can exert extreme heat and pressure that can sometimes damage gemstones. I cannot guarantee the condition of customer-supplied materials and make no warranties regarding gems that are not supplied by me. Sara Pocius Jewelry shall not be liable for damages to materials provided by the customer.
Most custom order designs are completed within an 8-12 week timeframe (this includes the initial design process). I will use my best efforts to accommodate an expedited schedule; however, unforeseen delays in production may occur. All delivery dates and times are estimates only. Sara Pocius Jewelry shall not be liable for any special or consequential damages that result from delay in delivery.
Resizing of rings
Please confirm the ring size before finalizing the custom design order. Sara Pocius Jewelry will only be able to accommodate resizing requests in very limited circumstances. Ability to resize is determined by various factors (ring width, ring style and metal type, for example). If you are unsure of or do not know the correct ring size, and do not have access to a local jeweler for sizing, I can send you a complimentary free ring sizer upon request. If you request a change after your piece is complete, it will be subject to a change fee of 10% of the total payment amount for the setting, excluding taxes.
Due to the labor involved with crafting custom orders, all pieces created for custom design orders are final sale and are ineligible for return or refund.
Custom orders are covered by Sara Pocius Jewelry’s One Year Product Warranty. If there is confirmation of a material or structural integrity defect (not including damage caused by normal wear and tear, or negligence), I will repair or replace as needed. I am always happy to service your jewelry beyond the warranty period, as well.
Your satisfaction is my goal, however, I reserve the right to alter, decline, or cancel custom design orders.
